Phantom of the Opera, The

Here’s the film of something that probably should have stayed on the stage. It’s Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical re-telling of the legend of the disfigured phantom who haunted the sewers below the Paris Opera House during the 1800s.
This phantom falls madly in love with a chorus girl. He tutors her singing and expects much more from their relationship than he is ever going to get.
Things eventually turn as ugly as the phantom hisself, and the beautiful chorus girl has to be rescued from the clutches of this sewer-living opera lover.
All ends well eventually, for *almost* everyone involved.
This telling of “The Phantom of the Opera” has beautiful art direction, set design, cinematography, sound track, costuming and staging. It’s definitely probably worth seeing once, especially if you are trapped, really trapped inside the house this weekend.
Caryl has seen it several times, and loves it!
