I would not recommend “The Hunger.” VERY stylishly shot, the way Tony & Riddley Scott *do,* but a story line that is Downright Silly(!) in many instances. Dialogue that is groanable, Especially in the restaurant set piece with Sarandon’s character and her boyfriend, after she & Catherine Deneuve have just engaged in a (lesbian, obviously) sex set piece. That sex set piece is supposed to be the high-water mark of this movie, but even THAT is slow-moving. The most interesting scenes, for me, were Susan Sarandon bra-less in a white T-shirt which is sometimes wet — and these scenes were not even worth turning your head for in a crowded room.
All in all, a downright SILLY movie. Run Away!
(1 hr 37. In English. With Catherine Deneuve as Miriam, David Bowie as John, Susan Sarandon as Sarah Roberts, Cliff De Young as Tom Haver, Beth Ehlers as Alice Cavender, and Dan Hedaya as Lieutenant Allegrezza. [!])
